August - September 2024 Update
It’s been an exciting two months, and now only 42 days remain until we head to Portugal on November 13! Thank you for all of your prayers in helping us get to this point. August was fairly low-key, allowing us to spend some quality time with family and friends. We also managed to get a few things done, making it easier to pack up and leave when the time comes.
September, on the other hand, was a different story—busy, busy, busy! We participated in a round-robin missions conference, visiting 10 churches in 10 days. We always enjoy meeting new congregations and making new friends, and during this time, we were able to visit a few other churches as well.
We are currently at 96% of our needed monthly support. Please pray that God provides the remaining partners. We are also praying that God will continue to provide the remaining $20,000 for our startup needs. Please pray for this and consider being a part of this project.
Outside the Portuguese Embassy
On September 20th, we went to the Portuguese Embassy in Washington, DC, to submit our paperwork for our Residency Visa. The meeting seemed to go well. Please continue to pray that God oversees the approval process and that our visas are granted soon.
One fun aspect of the past month has been what we’ve called our "Farewell Tour." We’ve had the chance to spend quality time with family in Tennessee and Ohio. It’s been a blessing to reconnect with many people we built relationships with during our years of service in Nebraska. This time has been wonderful for revisiting old friends, making new ones, and catching up with some of the teens who have grown up at FBC and now have families of their own. It’s hard to think about when we’ll see many of these people again.
The next time I write one of these updates, it should be from our new place in Lisbon! It’s crazy to think about how fast the last two years have flown by, and now we’re already at this stage. Thank you to everyone who has been with us throughout this journey and has been praying for us. God has been so good to us, and He has placed some of the sweetest people in our lives.
Thank you for all your love, prayers, and partnership.
