June - July 2024 Update
June marked our highly anticipated survey trip to Portugal. This was our second visit, with the first occurring over two years ago when we were discerning if this was truly the country God was leading us to. That initial trip was quite overwhelming, but this time, we felt much more at ease knowing what God was doing and simply needing to prepare for the journey ahead.
Exploring
It was wonderful to have the opportunity to explore. We spent three hours in a grocery store, observing what was available and, more importantly, what wasn't. Surprisingly, they have a lot more products now than they did two years ago. This insight was crucial for us to understand what we need to be prepared for when we move permanently.
Practical Preparation
We successfully opened our Portuguese bank account, which, from what we’ve heard, is a significant step towards our visa process and can be somewhat challenging.
Additionally, we scouted different neighborhoods, making it easier to find an apartment when we arrive in November. God led us to a tremendous realtor.
We also had the opportunity to meet many people: other missionaries, Americans living in Portugal, and many Portuguese individuals.
Spiritual and Emotional Preparation
This trip was a great time for us to prepare internally. We didn't want to leave, which we see as a positive sign. We are truly at peace with our path and excited to return to Portugal to serve the Lord. God has blessed us with a tremendous support group, both here in the States and in Portugal. We have partnered with an amazing missionary family who has been incredibly helpful and supportive during this transition.

Prayers
Here are our four main prayer requests:
Our Sons: As we prepare to leave, pray for our sons. They are doing great, and we are thankful for your prayers.
Ourselves: Please pray for us as we transition to living in Portugal.
Visa Process: Pray for our visa process. Our interview at the Portuguese Embassy is on September 20. Pray for us as we prepare our paperwork.
Start-Up Fund: We need to raise $48,000 for our start-up fund. So far, God has blessed us with $17,500. We are grateful for everyone’s generosity and support. Please pray for this need and consider being a part of this project. For more information, please visit our blog on the start-up fund.
Thank you for all your love, prayers, and partnership.
